Gospel Oak

July 1982

View towards Camden Road Gospel Oak is where the former Tottenham and Hamsptead line joins the North London line. This was the view towards Camden Road in 1982, with the up starter in the foreground, and before the line was converted from third rail to overhead electification.

December 1982

The former signalbox, which unfortunately has since burnt down and had to be replaced. The Tottenham and Hampstead line can be seen behind it. Old signalbox

Tottenham and Hampstead lines Gospel Oak today, with the replacement signalbox in the background. On the right are the Tottenham and Hampstead lines; to the left is the bay platform used by the passenger service to Barking.
A closer view of the new signalbox, which contains a panel. New signalbox
The junction The junction, looking towards Kensal Green Jct, with the North London line on the left.
The view towards Junction Road Jct, with the bay starter cleared for the train to depart. Towards Junction Rd Jct
Down NLL starters The view from the down North London line platform, showing the platform starters.
The view in the same direction from the up NLL platform. NLL to junction
View towards Camden Rd today Today's view towards Camden Road, now with a colour-light starter.

Kensal Green Junction

April 1983

Kensal Green Junction, looking towards Gospel Oak. To the middle is the North London line, while the freight line from Harlesden Jct on the WCML converges from the left, and the connection from Willesden Jct low level joins on the right. The junction signal can be glimpsed beyond the road bridge.
The reversing siding in the centre was removed when the junction was resignalled - Kensal Green is now controlled from the panel in Willesden High Level Junction, and the current reversing siding is a short way beyond the road bridge - but is planned for reinstatement in the forthcoming resignalling and capacity increase project.
Junction and signalbox
Junction and signalbox The view in the other direction, towards Willesden Junction (low and high level) and Harlesden. On the left are two of the old Camden-Watford style colour light signals - the red one is Kensal Green's starter and the yellow one its repeater. The splitting distant under the down main starter is for Willesden High Level Jct.
A view from beyond the Willesden LL lines, with the rear of the colour-light starter in the foreground. Willesden low level lines
Junction signal The junction signal. Below the left-hand arm, for the Harlesden Jct line, is a calling-on subsidiary, as this was a permissive freight line at the time.
A closer view of the down main starter, and signalbox. Down main starter and signalbox
Signalbox and Willesden LL line The signalbox from the other direction, with the Willesden LL line in the foreground.

Willesden High Level Junction

April 1983

The former junction signal (down homes) at Willesden High Level Junction, with the signal box in the background. The left-hand route leads to Mitre Bridge Jct and the West London line, the right-hand one towards Acton Wells Jct and Richmond. Junction and signalbox
Signalbox A closer view of the signalbox, with the starter towards Acton Wells (with the latter's distant) visible on the right.

A closer, and much more recent, view of the signalbox. Signalbox
